Latino Entrepreneurial Network of SE WI Leads the Midwest With Green Business Initiatives

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 03, 2011– The Latino Entrepreneurial Network (LEN) of SE Wisconsin has been leading the way for Green training for businesses in Wisconsin.  They are the first organization to offer this training in English and Spanish and have recently completed their second annual Green focused conference in Milwaukee, WI.  This first ever training has not gotten unnoticed.  LEN was recently recognized by the United Stated Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) for the first ever bilingual Green Business Init dodge iative in the Midwest and was selected as the UHSCC's 2011 Small Chamber of the Year.  

"LEN's Green Business Initiative started with our conference Grow Your Business in a Green Economy conducted in 2009 with over 110 participants. The first bilingual conference in the Midwest aimed at training entrepreneurs in economic green trends", states Nelson Soler, LEN Founding Executive Director and owner of the Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute (MEI), "We started this initiative as there was a strategic imperative to empower ethnically diverse individuals with the opportunities in the Green Economy".

To expand the initiative, LEN secured a two-year grant from the Helen Bader Foundation to institute a Business Green Entrepreneurial Training Camp and a Coaching Program. The Camp was conducted in April 2011 during the Annual Conference that was also in partnership with Sam's Club Corporate and Outpost Foods.   In May of 2011, The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation selected Milwaukee as the launch-city for its national Green Builds Business Program which will tour 11 cities across the United States this year. "We selected Milwaukee as our kick-off city because of the opportunity to partner with the Latino Entrepreneurial Network (LEN) of SE Wisconsin, our 2010 Small Business Chamber of the Year, and the Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute," says Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the USHCC.

"We are very proud to co-host this program with the USHCC in Milwaukee," says Soler. "The Green Builds Business program will accelerate the growth of our local business and enhance our environment."

"Ethnic groups in the U.S. seem to have fallen behind the bandwagon, but it's never too late to catch up. The Green movement has ignited a critical business behavioral change," stated Juan Alcaraz, President, Latino Entrepreneurial Network.

The Green Business Initiatives programs have been sponsored by the Helen Bader Foundation, Sam's Club Corporate, Outpost Foods and the Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute (MEI).
